What Is Sclerotherapy?
Sclerotherapy is a treatment used to eliminate spider veins and varicose veins caused by weakened or damaged vein valves. When these valves do not function properly, blood can pool in the vein, causing it to enlarge and become visible beneath the skin.
During treatment, a specialized solution is injected into the affected vein, causing it to collapse and close. Blood is then naturally redirected to healthier veins, and the treated vein is gradually absorbed by the body.

Why Consider Sclerotherapy?
Sclerotherapy may be recommended if you experience:
- Pain or aching in the legs
- Swelling
- Burning or discomfort
- Night cramps
- Visible spider or varicose veins
Many patients also choose treatment for cosmetic reasons to improve the appearance of their legs.

What to Expect During Treatment
Sclerotherapy is a quick, in-office procedure. The treatment area is cleaned, and a fine needle is used to inject the solution directly into the targeted vein.
The solution causes the vein to close, and over time the body absorbs it. Mild redness or bruising may occur temporarily following treatment.
Compression stockings are typically recommended for several days after treatment to support circulation and optimize results.
