Since its introduction to the cosmetics industry in 2002 as a wrinkle treatment, FDA-approved Botox® Cosmetic has calmed the dynamic muscles on the foreheads and around the eyes of millions of women and men. Botox is used in nearly 100 countries around the globe.
Although other neuromodulators have followed in Botox’s wake, that’s where they’ve stayed: Botox is still the No. 1 temporary treatment for:
- Forehead furrows
- Worry lines
- Frown lines
- Bunny lines
- Crow’s feet
- Neck bands
Our team of expert dermatologists and aestheticians at The Center for Dermatology Cosmetic & Laser Surgery in Mount Kisco, New York, devise the perfect dose and placement for your Botox injections. Botox lasts for about 3-4 months.
Wait at least two weeks for a touch-up
After your first Botox treatment, you may start to see your skin smooth out within just a few days. However, it can take 2-4 weeks for your full results to settle in. That’s why we like to book an evaluation appointment at that time.
We take a look at your skin and ask you how the Botox is working for you. If you’re happy, we simply book your follow-up treatment. If you feel improvements are still needed, we can take care of them on the spot.
For instance, if your forehead furrows smoothed out, but your “11” lines are still visible, you may need a touch-up with more units of Botox. Or, we may recommend fillers to resolve the problem.
Your two-week evaluation is part of your initial Botox treatment. However, if you do need more Botox to fully control your wrinkles, then we charge you per unit.
Of course, you may choose to wait another two weeks until you reach the one-month mark to be sure that the initial Botox doses aren’t sufficient.
We schedule your follow-ups
Once you’re happy with your results — whether with Botox alone or with a combination of Botox and fillers — we schedule your follow-up appointments. Botox tends to last about 3-4 months. We want to make sure you have full wrinkle control, so we time your appointment just before Botox wears off.
Filler follow-ups vary by the type and consistency of filler. Some only last six months. Others can last for two years or more. Again, we recommend booking these appointments far in advance so you don’t have to see your wrinkles again.
Follow-up doses are the same or smaller
You don’t have to worry about changing your dose every time you come in for a treatment. When you’re satisfied with your results, we treat the same areas with the same number of units to give you another four months of beautiful, smooth skin.
We may, in fact, need a little less product than before because your wrinkles are already controlled.
The main difference between your first treatment and your follow-up, though, is you don’t have to wait for the Botox to kick in. Your dynamic wrinkles are already under control, and they stay that way as long as you booked your appointment before the Botox wore off.
You still have some redness and soreness at the injection site after a follow-up treatment. But your skin continues to look fresh and rejuvenated, without a break or regression.
Maintain your beautiful Botox results by booking your follow-up today. Or, if you’d like to make continued improvements, schedule a touch-up. Contact our friendly team by phone or online form.
